Every business starts somewhere. For Hills Electrolysis, it started with my own experience of feeling frustrated, confused and honestly quite alone.
After having laser hair removal on my face, I developed paradoxical hypertrichosis. This is when laser treatment can actually stimulate more hair growth instead of reducing it. At the time, I had no idea this could happen. I thought I was just unlucky, or that something had gone wrong with me personally.
Since then, I have learnt that I am definitely not alone in this experience. Paradoxical hypertrichosis is not as rare as many people think, especially for people with melanin rich skin or darker hair types. I wish I had known that before starting laser, because it would have helped me understand the risks more clearly.
That experience is what led me to electrolysis. Unlike laser, electrolysis treats each individual follicle using a fine electric current, with the goal of permanently destroying the hair growth cells. It can be used on all skin tones, all hair colours and areas where laser may not be the right option.
Electrolysis was the first treatment that gave me real hope and real results.
Hills Electrolysis was created from that experience. I wanted to build a place where people could feel understood, informed and supported, especially if they have already been through a disappointing or upsetting hair removal journey.
We are only just getting started, but that is exactly the point.
